KAYU Surfboards proudly manufactures high-quality hollow, balsa based wooden surfboard blanks.
Our factory is located in the hills of Central Java, Indonesia.The KAYU balsa blanks come in pre-shaped to reduce the energy required for crafting as well as production waste. Beside its high strength-to-weight ratio, our balsa surfboard blanks are easy to work with.
When the balsa trees reach their maturity stage after a 4-6 year time period,we return to the local farmers and purchase trees off them to harvest.
The harvested wood undergoes a drying process for three months before making its way to our factory. The wood is sawn into planks for further drying. Once fully dry, the planks are cut into exact template dimensions according to the signature model, as an overall base for a KAYU surfboard blank.
